On Day 4 of the ongoing first Test between India and New Zealand, Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant are going strong as they have stitched a 103-run stand for the fourth wicket and have put India in a strong position in the match.

Notably, India lost the valuable wicket of Virat Kohli on the last ball of play on day 3. The hosts were 231/3 and still trailed by 125 runs at that point. Several fans assumed the batting order would collapse on day 4, but much to their delight, the duo are going strong.

Sarfaraz And Pant Strikes A Partnership Against New Zealand

Notably, Sarfaraz Khan smashed his maiden Test century, while, Pant, who had an injury scare on day 2, struck a fifty. When writing this article, the second session is yet to commence, and India are trailing by 12 runs.

It is worth noting that it was the first time that Sarfaraz and Pant have combined to form a formidable partnership and pull their side out of trouble.

Pant And Khan's Heroics During Under-19 World Cup 2016

During the 2016 Under-19 World Cup tie between India and New Zealand, the Ishan Kishan-led side, batting first, lost two wickets for just 19 runs. Young Rishabh and Sarfaraz Khan were at the crease and stitched a crucial 89-run stand for the 3rd wicket to pull India out of trouble under a crunch situation. 

In that match, Pant scored a fifty, while Sarfaraz was the side's highest run-getter in that match. Rishabh amassed 57 (83), which featured seven fours and two sixes. Meanwhile, Sarfaraz scored 74 (80), which included nine fours. 

Pant and Sarfaraz's heroics helped India's U-19 side put 258 runs on the board. In reply, Avesh Khan took four wickets and restricted New Zealand to just 138 runs, resulting in a massive win for the Boys In Blue.
