New Zealand batter, Rachin Ravindra slammed his first-ever Test century against India in Bengaluru's iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The brilliant moment occurred on Day 3 of the first Test that too in a quick time, facing 124 balls.

Rachin Joins Ross Taylor With This Unique Feat

Interestingly, with this hundred Rachin Ravindra ended a 12-year drought. This was the first hundred by a New Zealand batter in 12 years in the Test format. Back in 2012, Ross Taylor slammed 113 runs at the same venue in 2012.

Rachin Reaches Milestone With A Cracking Boundary

With this achievement, Rachin’s love for his home, Bengaluru, shined brighter than ever. Facing Ravichandran Ashwin in the 80th over just a little before lunch, Rachin notched up a fantastic century. Ashwin tossed a delivery around the leg, and the Kiwi batter got down on one knee and swept it hard behind the square leg region. The red cherry beat the short, fine leg to his right and ran straight to the boundary.

Rachin, who slammed his second Test hundred, walked excitedly towards Tim Southee and hugged him after reaching this milestone. The camera panned on to the stadium and his teammates, who gave him a standing ovation for this achievement.

India In Troubled Waters As NZ Shine

India’s desperation to pick up wickets must be heightened as New Zealand is cruising through to a 300+ lead. With just two days remaining, India would aim to bundle the BlackCaps before Tea and then bat their heart out until tomorrow to salvage something fruitful out of this Test.

As at the time of writing, the partnership between Rachin and Southee has grown to 112 and NZ led by 299 runs.
