Ranji Trophy: Rinku Singh Returns To UP Against Yuzvendra Chahal-Starrer Haryana

Rinku Singh made his return to Uttar Pradesh’s Ranji Trophy 2024-25 setup for their Elite Group C match against Haryana on October 18. The hard-hitting radical, who recently starred in India’s T20I series win over Bangladesh, also played a Duleep Trophy match for India B last month.

Rinku Singh’s return bolsters UP in Ranji Trophy

Rinku Singh was included in Uttar Pradesh’s playing XI on October 18 for their Ranji Trophy 2024 match against Haryana. The match marks Uttar Pradesh’s second outing of the season after their drawn affair against Bengal last week.

Turning up at the Sports Galaxy Cricket Ground in Lucknow, it was Haryana captain Ankit Kumar who won the toss and opted to bat first. While Rinku Singh’s presence glitters Uttar Pradesh’s Ranji Trophy setup, fellow Indian international stars Harshal Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal are included in the Haryana playing XI for the match.

Rinku recently pounded scores of 53 and 8* against Bangladesh in successive matches to star in India’s 3-0 series win at home. The cricketer was also a part of India’s series-winning line-up in Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, both within the past couple of months.

Last month, he played one match for India B under the leadership of Abhimanyu Easwaran during the Duleep Trophy 2024 season at Ananthapur’s Rural Development Trust Stadium B.

With Rinku Singh back in the squad, Aryan Juyal and co. will be hoping to register their first win of the Ranji Trophy 2024 season. While their opening Elite Group C match turned out to be a drawn affair last week, it was the Anustup Majumdar-led Bengal team that took home the crucial points on offer courtesy of a first innings lead.
