India's explosive opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal threw away his start, as he was bamboozled by Ajaz Patel in the second innings of the ongoing first Test in Bengaluru. Opening the batting alongside captain Rohit Sharma, Jaiswal scored 35 runs before Patel outfoxed him with a well-disguised delivery.

The incident occurred during the 18th over of India's second innings after the visitors posted a mammoth first-innings total of 402 runs, thanks to a belligerent hundred from Rachin Ravindra. Unlike the first innings, India put up a much evolved batting performance this time, with Rohit and Jaiswal adding 72 runs for the first wicket.

However, Ajaz Patel broke their valiant partnership, dismissing Jaiswal at a crucial juncture of the match. Bowling the fifth over of his spell, Patel tossed the ball up, inviting Jaiswal for a lofted shot.

The southpaw fell into his trap, dancing down the track and attempting a big shot down the ground. However, he couldn't read his variation, getting beaten comprehensively in the process. New Zealand's wicket-keeper Tom Blundell made no mistake, dislodging the bails and getting him stumped.

Rohit Sharma's blistering fifty frustrates New Zealand

Although Jaiswal perished for 35, his opening partner Rohit Sharma slammed a glorious fifty, hammering Matt Henry for three consecutive boundaries. After pulling the Kiwi speedster for a massive six, Rohit struck a four, bringing up his fifty in this process. After Jaiswal's departure, former captain Virat Kohli joined Rohit in the middle. At the time of writing, India were 95 for one in 21.2 overs, with Rohit and Kohli batting on 52* and 6*, respectively.
