'Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi Are Panauti…' - Fans React After Pakistan Stun England In Multan

The Pakistan cricket team humbled serial ‘BazBallers’ England with a 152-run victory in Multan to level their three-match series with a Test to spare. While the outcome marked Pakistan’s first Test win in over a year, and their first in a home Test in nearly four years, they did so without the services of senior batter Babar Azam and pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi.

As Shan Masood’s troops were celebrating their remarkable performance, a legion of cricket fans took to social media to poke fun at Babar and Shaheen.

Fans react after Babar and Shaheen-less PAK claim win

Shortly after Pakistan completed their 152-run routing of England, several fans flocked to X to poke fun at Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi. Earlier this week, both Babar and Shaheen were dropped from Pakistan’s playing XI for the second Test at Multan, amidst team’s year-long struggles in the format.

While several fans called for a permanent exile for the two cricketers, others jokingly labelled the two senior personalities as ‘Panauti’ (bad luck) for Pakistan cricket. Here is a look at some of the hilarious fan reactions after Pakistan’s drought-ending Test win:

Debutant Kamran Ghulam, who filled in for Babar Azam, smacked a graceful century in the first innings, while Shaheen’s replacement Sajid Khan delivered a ‘Player of the Match’ performance with a nine-wicket haul. Sajid claimed seven of those wickets in the first English innings of the match after toiling away for 26.2 overs.

Notably, the win also marked Pakistan’s first under the leadership of Shan Masood, who was appointed as national Test skipper after Babar Azam relinquished his all-format captaincy last year.

With the series now levelled at 1-1, Pakistan and England will now collide in the series-decider at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium between October 24 and October 28.
