The Faf du Plessis-led Saint Lucia Kings created history on Sunday night in Guyana by lifting their maiden CPL title. They beat Guyana Amazon Warriors who were the defending champions and it was quite a thrilling game with full of ups and downs. Kings eventually won the game in the penultimate over of the match by six wickets and it was followed by passionate celebration from the players and support staff.

As soon as Kings got over the line, all the players and support staff ran towards the ground and hug each other with great intensity. There were wild roars from many players and prominent among their were the seniors like the captain Faf du Plessis and head coach Darren Sammy. The celebration clearly displayed what it meant for the players and all the members associated with the franchise who have qualified for playoffs in the past but never won the trophy before this edition.

Saint Lucia Kings Display Class With Consistent Cricket

Saint Lucia Kings were fantastic throughout the tournament and lost just three games out of the ten they played in the group stage. Faf du Plessis and co. also managed to get the better of Guyana in the Qualifier 1 of the tournament and have deservingly beaten them in the summit clash.

Talking about the match, Kings won the toss and decided to chase and the move worked wonders. Faf du Plessis rotated his bowlers brilliantly and they kept taking wickets at regular intervals as Guyana managed to score just 138 runs in their 20 overs. Noor Ahmad picked three wickets while rest of the bowlers picked one wicket apiece. In reply, Kings got off to a poor start and were behind the eight-ball after four early wickets. However, Roston Chase and Aaron Jones hit some lusty blows under pressure at the backend and took their team to the maiden CPL title.
