In a stunning display of versatile power-hitting, Sri Lanka's Pathum Nissanka humbled West Indian pacer Shamar Joseph in the 2nd T20I with a destructive 25-run over. Nissanka unleashed a series of boundaries that included 6 fours, thus completely dismantling Joseph's powerplay numbers.

After a five-wicket defeat in the 1st T20I, Sri Lanka unleashed a revenge mode on West Indies in the second T20I held at Dambulla earlier today. The hosts won the toss and opted to bat on a tricky wicket.

Hence, to avail the maximum advantage of the field restrictions in the powerplay, Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka charged on West Indies' newest pace sensation Shamar Joseph. After a quiet start, Nissanka slammed Joseph all over the park in the fourth over. 

Pathum Nissanka goes ballistic against Shamar Joseph

Nissanka scored a boundary off the first ball on pure luck as the ball hit his pads and raced away to the rope. He used his feet on the next ball to smash a boundary over extra cover. After an extra run in wide, Pathum Nissanka once again got four runs off a top edge as he miscued a pull shot attempt. 

At this point, Shamar Joseph was completely demoralised and fed Nissanka boundary hitting deliveries. The Sri Lanka opener, meanwhile, grabbed his opportunities to slam two more boundaries to complete a 25-run over, which featured as many as 6 fours and a wide. That massive over helped Sri Lanka post 52 runs in the powerplay before they finished with 162/5 at the end of the first 20 overs.

Sri Lanka-West Indies T20 series so far

In the series opener held in Dambulla on October 13, West Indies dominated Sri Lanka to seal a 5-wicket victory. Kamindu Mendis and Charith Asalanka's 80+ run partnership powered the hosts to 179/7 at the end of the first innings. 

However, in response, West Indies broke the gate with a 107-run opening stand between Brandon King and Evin Lewis. The game was still stretched to the final over before the visitors chased the total with 5 balls to spare to take 1-0 lead in the three-game series.
