Amid the ongoing attention on Babar Azam, who was dropped from the second Pakistan-England Test, his replacement, Kamran Ghulam, made headlines for his incredible century under pressure. Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin praised Ghulam's resilient performance, noting how he walked into a challenging situation and crafted a brilliant hundred.

Babar Azam, who celebrated his 30th birthday today, received an unwanted surprise gift from PCB as the new selection committee dropped him and Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah for the remainder of the Test series against England.

Hence, for the second Test, which went on floors in Multan earlier today, domestic stalwart Kamran Ghulam made his debut and replaced Babar at no.4.

Kamran Ghulam steals limelight on Test debut

Having received his due after a prolonged period of wait, Ghulam made the most of his opportunity to slam a gritty hundred, including 10 boundaries and a six.

Kamran Ghulam's innings was crucial for Pakistan, especially with wickets falling from the other end. It showcased his mental toughness and ability to perform when it mattered most, that too without any international cricket experience.

Meanwhile, Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was deeply moved by Kamran Ghulam's resilience and took to social media to praise his innings. He urged the fans to ignore Babar Azam and spare a thought of praise for Ghulam, who walked into a storm to slam a hundred in his debut Test game.

Like Ashwin, many experts from the cricket fraternity hailed Kamran Ghulam for his personal milestone as Pakistan continued to pile up runs against England in Multan.

Ramiz Raja Brags Babar Azam's Stardom

After Babar Azam was dropped from the ongoing Test series against England, former PCB chief Ramiz Raja claimed that Babar was the only superstar on the team who had the aura to sell cricket.

Without him, there is no crowd-puller in the current Pakistan setup, which is a factor of concern for the broadcasters. Raja also opposed the selection committee's decision, saying Babar Azam should have had the authority to call the shots on his availability.
