Shan Masood, the Pakistan Test skipper has been at the centre of criticism in recent past due to his mediocre returns with the bat and team's poor performance. However, in the first Test against England in Multan, the southpaw has hit back at his critics with a fantastic century off just 102 balls. His knock brought Pakistan back on track after losing an early wicket and it is exactly what Pakistan needed after getting whitewashed by Bangladesh in their last series.

Shan Masood walked out to bat in fourth over after the wicket of Saim Ayub and battted positively right from the onset. He had a major scare early in his innings when he was given out LBW, but DRS saved him and after that the batter made sure that he keeps his composure intact and played some lovely shots off the backfoot and front foot. He got to his fifty in 43 balls and then reached his fifth Test hundred with a single in the 38th over. Shan Masood hit 10 fours and two sixes in his knock and his partnership with Abdullah Shafique has provided great platform to Pakistan to notch up a massive first innings total.

Shan Masood Reaches Three-Figure Mark In Test Cricket After Four Years

It is Shan Masood's third century in Pakistan and first as a captain of Pakistan in Test cricket. His last Test century also came against England and it was back in 2020 in Manchester. He also scored a fifty in the last Test against Bangladesh, but needed a big score under his belt to shut down his critics and this knock would surely keep his distractors quiet for sometime now. Abdullah Shafique at the other end is also batting well and is back in form after a long lean patch which is great sign for Pakistan as they look to bounce back after the disappointing series against Bangladesh.
