Parag breaks RR record [Source: AP Photo]
In the short span of time, Riyan Parag has made a name for himself in the Rajasthan Royals setup. He started out as a teenager but has quickly become a mainstay for the Royals as he continues to reach new heights, not only with the bat, but also with his fielding efforts.
In the ongoing IPL 2025 match between the Royals and the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Parag broke another record and created history after taking Abishek Porel's catch in the deep.
With his wicket, Parag went past former RR captain, Ajinkya Rahane and became the player with most catches for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Rahane had 40 catches, and Parag now has 41. Rahane achieved the feat in 106 matches, while the current RR star did it in 77 games.
Most catches taken for RR
Player | Catches |
Riyan Parag | 41 |
Ajinkya Rahane | 40 |
Jos Buttler | 31 |
Parag now leads the charts with Jos Buttler occupying the third spot. Talking about the historic moment. Wanindu Hasaranga bowled a googly as Porel miscued the slog and found Parag in the deep who charged towards the ball and took a safe catch to go past Rahane.
DC post 188/5
DC after being put into bat had a disastrous start as Jake Fraser-McGurk was dismissed cheaply, and it was followed by Karun Nair's wicket.
KL Rahul and Abishek Porel stitched a partnership before both the batters departed in quick successions. However, Ashutosh Sharma and Tristan Stubbs finished off in style as DC managed to score 188/5.
