Explosive Indian batter Prithvi Shaw showcased his batting prowess for Mumbai in their ongoing Irani Trophy encounter against the Rest of India (ROI) at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. However, the swashbuckling opener failed to convert his start into an impactful score, with Saransh Jain castling him with a beauty.

The incident occurred during the 34th over of Mumbai's second innings when Shaw was trying to steady the ship alongside Sarfaraz Khan, who struck a valiant double ton in the first innings. However, before the duo could bail Mumbai out of trouble, Saransh Jain got Shaw's prized scalp, cleaning him up with a magnificent delivery.

From around the wicket, Jain bowled a full-length delivery around the middle stump, drawing Shaw onto his front foot. However, as the stylish batter tried to play a defensive shot, the ball went straight with the angle to beat him on his outside edge. The ball eventually went on to castle Shaw's off stump, leaving him stunned in the middle.

Mumbai Lose Six Wickets Before Stumps On Day 4

Shaw was Saransh Jain's third wicket, as his clinical spell reduced Mumbai to 125 for five after a brisk start to their second innings. Apart from Shaw, Ayush Mhatre and Shreyas Iyer were the off-spinner's victims, while Shams Mulani gifted him his wicket with a brain-fade leave.

Manav Suthar was Jain's partner-in-crime, dismissing Hardik Tamore and Ajinkya Rahane. The spinners' incredible performance led to Mumbai's batting collapse, as the reigning Ranji Trophy Champions finished the day with 153 runs for the loss of six wickets.

Earlier, ROI posted a respectable 416-run total in their first innings, riding on Abhimanyu Easwaran's sensational century. Despite missing his double hundred, Easwaran slammed 191 runs, ensuring ROI's commendable fightback in the game.
