In a significant setback for team India, their wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant hobbled off the field after sustaining a knee injury during the ongoing Test match against New Zealand. The swashbuckling batter hurt his knee while keeping off Ravindra Jadeja's bowling.

The incident occurred during the 37th over of New Zealand's innings when the visitors had strongly responded to India's first innings total. After scalping Will Young's prized wicket, Jadeja kept things tight before beating Devon Conway with a sharp-turner.

From over the wicket, Jadeja bowled a full-length ball that turned sharply into Conway after pitching outside the off stump. As Conway went for an expansive drive, the ball sneaked through the gap between his bat and pad, beating him in this process.

However, unfortunately, Rishabh Pant was struck at an unprotected area on his right knee roll. Following the incident, the wicketkeeper complained of severe pain, eventually walking off the field with the help of the team physio. As a result, India's reserve wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel replaced him behind the stumps.

New Zealand Dominate India In Bengaluru Test

After being invited to bowl first, New Zealand exploited the seam-friendly conditions in Bengaluru, bowling India out for 46 runs in their first innings. Barring Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal, none of the Indian batters could breach the two-figure mark, as the hosts were bundled out for their lowest-ever score in Asia.

In response, the BlackCaps put up a commendable batting performance, keeping India at bay with their grit and determination. At the time of writing, New Zealand were 169 for three, with Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell batting on 19* and 6*, respectively.
