Joe Root has been on fire lately, showcasing his incredible talent as a top batter in Test cricket. During the first Test against Pakistan in Multan, he achieved a fantastic milestone by scoring his sixth double century, a feat that cements his status among the greats. 

Root is known for his ability to handle both spin and pace, making him a versatile player in any condition. He’s part of the elite "Fab Four" of modern cricket, alongside legends like Virat Kohli and Steve Smith, and is England’s leading Test run-scorer. 

In this match, Root came to the crease after England lost an early wicket. Starting on Day 3, he formed a crucial partnership with Harry Brook. Together, they steadily built England’s innings, and when play resumed on Day 4, Root was already on 176, while Brook had scored 141. They continued to dominate, with Root eventually reaching 200 runs, adding yet another masterpiece to his illustrious career.

Root's double century came in the 110th over of England’s first innings. Calm and composed at the crease, he nudged Agha Salman’s delivery down the leg side for a single, reaching the coveted 200-run mark. This was his second double century against Pakistan and his sixth overall in Test cricket. He celebrated the achievement by kissing his helmet and raising his bat, acknowledging the applause from English fans in the stadium.

Notably, the star batter has matched the achievements of Australia's Ricky Ponting, India's legendary Sachin Tendulkar, Kane Williamson, and four other cricket stars.

England's Dominance On Day 3 Against Pakistan

Day 3 was completely dominated by England. The visitors took full advantage of the flat pitch in Multan, trailing Pakistan's massive first-innings score by only 64 runs at the close of play. Zak Crawley and Joe Root resumed England's batting in the morning session, continuing their solid partnership. Though Crawley fell for 78, Ben Duckett (84) came in and helped add more runs to England’s tally before being dismissed in the second session.

Harry Brook joined Root at the crease and together they added an unbeaten 243-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Root, who ended Day 3 on 176*, surpassed multiple records, becoming England's leading Test run-scorer and securing his 35th Test century.
