South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp has long been recognised as a standout batter for her team, and in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, she continues to prove why she’s a key player. In a crucial 11th match against Scotland at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Kapp played an impressive knock, scoring 43 runs off 24 balls before her dismissal. Her innings were full of intent, helping South Africa set up a challenging total for the opposition.

The match began with South Africa winning the toss and opting to bat first. Laura Wolvaardt opened the innings confidently, getting off to a strong start. She took on the Scottish bowlers with ease, crafting an important 40 runs before being dismissed. Her contribution laid a solid foundation for the innings, which was further strengthened by Tazmin Brits, who added a brilliant 43 runs to the scoreboard.

Then came Marizanne Kapp at number four and from the moment she stepped onto the crease, she made her presence felt. Her aggressive yet calculated approach saw her swiftly adding runs to the total, including six well-timed boundaries.

However, her knock came to an unfortunate end in the 18th over. Kathryn Bryce, bowling for Scotland, delivered a fuller length ball outside off stump at 91.5 km/h. Kapp, trying to loft the ball over point, failed to get the required elevation. The ball landed straight into the hands of Carter, who had been exceptional in the field.

South Africa Posted Highest Score Of Women's T20 World Cup 2024

Despite Kapp’s dismissal, South Africa managed to post a formidable total of 166 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs, marking the highest score of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024. The Scottish bowlers, especially in the death overs, tried their best to contain the run flow, but South Africa’s batters had already inflicted significant damage.

Now, the onus was on the Scotland Women’s team to chase down this daunting total, and it would take a heroic batting effort to keep their hopes alive in the tournament.
