The latest scheme of things doesn't seem to favour Australian all-rounder Cameron Green. He is likely to undergo back surgery that will keep him out of action for the entire summer, which means he will miss out on the highly anticipated Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Green To Travel To New Zealand

The 25-year-old, who was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease last year, has been a crucial element of the Aussie arsenal. According to reports, there is "no chance" of him featuring due to the "serious" back injury and will soon be flying to New Zealand to undergo radical surgery on the stress fracture. Furthermore, these reports suggest that his condition is significant enough to rule him out for an extended period.

Cameron Green's Back Injury

Green injured himself in the One-Day International series against England. He had complained of a sore back after Australia's heavy loss in the third ODI at Riverside Ground, Chester-Le-Street.

After getting a scan in London after the match, the doctors confirmed that he needed to withdraw from some matches due to his bad back, and he missed the penultimate ODI at Lord's. However, it is only now that the seriousness of the injury has come to light.

The Green Magic Over The Years

The star all-rounder's unique blend of pace bowling and solid batting skills has been a game-changer for the team. His consistent performance has often turned the tide in critical moments, making him an indispensable part of the team's success over the past two years.

Green has accumulated 1,377 runs at an average of 36.23, including two centuries from just 28 Test matches. He has also made a significant impact with the ball, taking 35 wickets, highlighted by a shining five-wicket haul.

In 2023 alone, Green has shown remarkable growth, scoring 302 runs, including a memorable 174* against New Zealand. However, suppose his recent back injury sidelines him for the upcoming series against India. It will be interesting to see whom Australia may consider in his place as they prepare for a five-match series starting November 22 in Perth.
