Day 1 of the first Test between India and New Zealand at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, has been officially called off on October 16 due to persistent rain. The toss, scheduled for 9 AM, was delayed, and despite hopes for play, the day was ultimately washed out. Rain of varying intensity continued throughout the morning, preventing any cricket action.

While the stadium’s advanced ‘SubAir’ drainage system tried to manage the wet conditions, the relentless showers made play impossible. Weather forecasts had warned of rain in the days leading up to the match, but hopes for play on Day 1 were dashed.

Rain May Interrupt India Vs New Zealand First Test

The rain has already caused the day 1 match to be called off due to rain. Looking ahead, the weather in Bengaluru doesn’t seem much better. According to accuweather, the weather on Day 2 will be mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of rain. On the following day, the weather worsens with partly cloudy conditions and a couple of thunderstorms, bringing a 78% chance of rain.

By Day 4, Saturday, the weather seems better with a 13% chance of rain, with the sun shining through high clouds. The final Day, Day 5, will see a thunderstorm in the afternoon with 100% cloud cover, making it possible to interrupt during the play.
