On October 16, 2013, Virat Kohli etched his name in the record books by scoring the fastest century by an Indian in One Day International (ODI) cricket. Playing against Australia in Jaipur, India batting maestro reached 100 runs in just 52 balls. His incredible knock not only entertained fans but also led India to a commanding 9-wicket victory, chasing down a mammoth target of 360 runs with 39 balls to spare.  

The match began with Australia batting first. Captain George Bailey led from the front, remaining unbeaten on 92, and guided Australia to a formidable score of 359/5. With such a big total to chase, India needed a perfect start—and they got just that from openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan.  

Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma Guide India To Empathic Win

After a solid opening partnership of 176 runs, Dhawan was unfortunate to miss his century, falling on 95. But then came Virat Kohli, partnering with Rohit Sharma to take control. In a breathtaking display of aggressive batting, Kohli smashed 7 fours and 8 sixes, dismantling the Australian bowling attack. His mix of elegant drives, flicks, and towering sixes left the crowd in awe and the bowlers clueless.  

Virat Kohli’s blazing 52-ball century broke Virender Sehwag’s previous record of 100 off 60 balls, making it the fastest century by an Indian in ODIs. Rohit Sharma also played a sensational innings, scoring 141* off 123 balls, including 4 sixes and 17 fours.

Together, their partnership ensured India’s chase was smooth and decisive. Kohli’s quickfire ton and Sharma’s steady brilliance saw India achieve the target in just 43.3 overs.
