In a significant development, Pakistan suffered a major setback as Abrar Ahmed, their lead spinner is absent from the field on day four due to illness in the ongoing Test against England. The 26-year-old, who had bowled a marathon 31 overs on day three, was reportedly running a fever and is unlikely to return to the field for the remainder of England’s innings.

His absence compounds Pakistan's struggles as they seek to contain England’s relentless batting lineup. On the start of Day 4, Joe Root completed his double century and his innings has been a masterclass in patience and shot selection.

Pakistan Finds Themselves In Difficult Situation

England, coming off a nearly flawless day three, resumed play with an eye on quick runs to build a lead over Pakistan. The partnership between Harry Brook and Joe Root had been the highlight of England's innings, with the pair putting on a monumental stand for the fourth wicket.

With England in a commanding position, Pakistan's bowlers have struggled to maintain control. The English players have shown remarkable discipline, grinding down the Pakistan attack in a display of textbook Test cricket.

Abrar’s absence have only made the task harder for Pakistan, which finds itself on the back foot with few viable options to break England’s dominance.

Abrar Ahmed Absence A Major Blow For Pakistan

The loss of Abrar Ahmed is a huge setback for the Pakistan bowling attack, which has already been under severe pressure. He was the workhorse on day three, delivering the highest number of overs for his side. His absence leaves Pakistan with limited spin options, forcing captain Shan Masood to turn to part-timers like Salman Agha, Saud Shakeel, and Saim Ayub.

This leaves Pakistan heavily reliant on their seamers to make early inroads on a flat Multan pitch that has shown little assistance for fast bowlers.
