What happens when a cricketing legend from India and a footballing god from Argentina end up in the same ad? The internet breaks.

MS Dhoni and Lionel Messi are starring together in an upcoming commercial for Lay’s chips. It is part of the brand’s ongoing global campaign, “No Lay’s, No Game” and honestly, this might be the crossover none of us saw coming but all of us are loving already.

Lay’s United Dhoni And Messi In An Ad No One Saw Coming

In the teaser that is doing the rounds, Lionel Messi is seen juggling a football like he does on any other day, until he cheekily passes it over to MS Dhoni. But it’s not just about the ball, they are both holding their fav flavour of Lay’s while doing it.

Messi is munching on Simply Salted while Dhoni is repping the desi favourite, American Style Cream & Onion.

Notably, both are rocking Adidas outfits too. Coincidence? Not likely. Messi has been tied to Adidas forever and Dhoni’s recent kit also screams brand alignment.

Perfect Timing With IPL Buzz

With the IPL 2025 in full swing and MS Dhoni back at the helm of Chennai Super Kings, Lay’s couldn’t have timed this better. Dhoni’s fan army is at it to win IPL 2025 and dropping a Messi-Dhoni ad right in the middle of cricket madness? That’s marketing genius.

Just last month, Lay’s had Dhoni and Ranbir Kapoor team up to launch global flavours like Mexican Salsa and Korean Chilli. Now with Messi in the mix, Lay’s has kicked it up a notch.

Not The First Big Crossover

This isn’t the first time Indian cricket and international football have teamed up for screen time. Back in 2018, fans lost their minds when Virat Kohli and Cristiano Ronaldo shared a brand moment with American Tourister. But Dhoni x Messi? That’s next level. Captain Cool meets The Magician.

The full ad hasn’t dropped yet, but if the teaser is anything to go by, Lay’s might have just delivered the biggest sporting collab of the year.
