After a two-hour delay, the match in Bengaluru finally went ahead with a 14-over encounter between Punjab and the home side, Royal Challengers. Batting first, the home side, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, were off to a poor start with Phil Salt falling in the first over, while Virat Kohli fell for a single run. Later, Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma too couldn't do much, as Krunal Pandya was the fifth man to be dismissed with just 33 on the board. Skipper Rajat Patidar fell for 23, while Manoj Bhandage was the seventh man to be dismissed as RCB were seven down for 42 with just Tim David being the only recognized batter left. However, he did all the damage as the big-hitter went on to score 50* off 26 deliveries with five fours and three sixes, helping Bengaluru post 95 on the board after the end of their 14 overs, as at one stage even getting past 70 looked difficult.
From the bowling attack, Marco Jansen (2/10) and Yuzvendra Chahal (2/11) in their three overs were magnificent, where Harpreet Brar and Arshdeep Singh picked two wickets as well.
In reply, Punjab chased the score down in 12.1 overs, where Nehal Wadhera was the star man with 33 not out coming off just 19 deliveries as he smashed three gigantic sixes, with no real contribution from any of the batters came for Punjab. However, it was more than enough as they finished the game with 11 deliveries and five wickets to spare to earn a victory in a tough, truncated encounter.
Again, with the ball, Josh Hazlewood was magnificent with a spell of 3/14 in his three overs, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked two wickets as he gave away 26 runs.
