After a dominant victory in Gwalior, team India hit the nets in Delhi ahead of the second T20I against Bangladesh. However, the visuals from the first net sessions was overwhelming as more than 6-7 players rolled their arm, thus boasting the never seen before bowling depth.

In their first T20I against Bangladesh, India captain Suryakumar Yadav had the luxury of 10 bowling options, with only wicketkeeper Sanju Samson not rolling his arm over. This is a far cry from past trends, where top-order batters like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and Yuvraj Singh regularly contributed with the ball. However, in recent years, this practice has declined.

Nevertheless, with Gautam Gambhir taking over the senior team’s head coach, the significant shift has been visible, especially in the ongoing T20I series against Bangladesh. During the recent net sessions at Delhi, Indian Express reports that Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Harshit Rana, Riyan Parag and Abhishek Sharma were seen bowling in the nets.

Interestingly, Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav even used part-timers like Rinku and himself to bowl in the death overs during the Sri Lanka series. However, this time around, he has a mix of pacers and spinners, including Arshdeep Singh, Mayank Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Washington Sundar, and Ravi Bishnoi.

Indeed, as mentioned in the post-game interview, SKY relishes the challenge of managing so many bowling options and hopes for more creative opportunities on the field.

After the Gwalior triumph, team India travelled to Delhi for the second T20I of the three-game series against Bangladesh. Surykumar Yadav, the newly crowned captain of the T20I format, was one of the first ones to receive a grand welcome.

As the dhol beats filled the air, SKY broke into an impromptu dance to enjoy the music and also acknowledge the presence of the supporting crowd. The rest of the team posed huge smiles as they made their way to the team hotel.
