India's experienced all-rounder Hardik Pandya is on the verge of breaking former captain MS Dhoni's batting record. Tonight, India will be up against Bangladesh in the second T20I of the ongoing three-match series. The high-voltage clash will take place at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya is on the brink of surpassing the legendary Indian captain on an elite list. Notably, Pandya has 1562 T20I runs to his name, and if he scores 56 runs in the Delhi T20I, he will go past MS Dhoni on the list of most successful batters for India in the shortest format. Also, if Pandya hits a boundary, he will eclipse Dhoni for the most fours for India in T20Is.

Currently, MS Dhoni occupies the sixth position on the list, topped by former captain Rohit Sharma. On the other hand, Pandya is placed eighth with 43 runs less than ex-cricketer Suresh Raina.

Hardik Pandya's Stellar Show In 1st T20I Vs Bangladesh

After making his debut in T20 Internationals in 2016, Hardik Pandya gradually established himself as India's most valuable player in the shortest format. The Baroda cricketer oozed his class with bat and ball, playing a vital role in India's triumphant T20 World Cup campaign in the USA and Caribbean.

In the first T20I against Bangladesh, Pandya bowled a clinical spell, finishing with impressive figures of one for 26 in his four overs. However, it was his aggressive batting that stole the limelight.

Coming at number five, Pandya struck a belligerent 16-ball 39*, ensuring India's emphatic win in Gwalior. He smashed five gorgeous boundaries and two massive sixes, proving his mettle as a finisher for the umpteenth time. So, given his red-hot form, Pandya will be one of India's players to watch out for in the second T20I.
