Ishan Kishan is back in the Jharkhand squad for the Ranji Trophy 2024 matches, and has been given the captaincy responsibilities for the first two matches. The pocket dynamo missed the last season of the Ranji Trophy, and last captained the side in the 2018-19 season.

In the Irani Cup, he could only score 38 runs in the first innings as Mumbai won the cup after 27-years. Kishan also featured in the recently concluded Duleep Trophy campaign, where he played for India C. The tournament marked his return to first-class cricket since December 2022.
