India completed a dominating clean sweep over Bangladesh in the recently concluded Test series. The action now shifts to the shortest format of international cricket: the T20Is.

The first match of the three-match T20I series will be played at the Shrimant Madavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior, India. The Indian management has announced a relatively new-look squad for the series. While young pacer Mayank Yadav has received his first national call-up, experienced spinner Varun Chakravarthy earned a place in the squad after five years.

Here is a look at the Indian squad for the T20I series against Bangladesh

Suryakumar Yadav (C), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wk), Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Riyan Parag, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav

The pace contingent selected for the series looks very encouraging and interesting. It indicates that India is looking to groom its future generation of pacers, and this series is the first step towards building a formidable pace attack in the future.

Morne Morkel grooming the Indian pacers

Currently, the former South African pace bowling legend Morne Morkel is acting as the bowling coach of the Indian Men's team. In a video released on the X handle (former Twitter) of BCCI, Morkel was swatching on the preparation of the Indian pacers ahead of the series. In the video, bowlers like Mayank Yadav, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya were seen bowling with their full delivery strides and putting in their best efforts while Morkel monitored them closely.

With such a variety of pacers in the repertoire, it will be interesting to see the team combination India opts for in the first match. While Hardik Pandya will be the pace bowling all-rounder and provide depth and flexibility to the team, whether India goes for a spin-heavy or pace-heavy combination will be revealed on match day.
