Promising Indian batter, Sarfaraz Khan fulfilled an emotional promise to his Mumbai teammates and family during the Irani Cup match against the Rest of India. After his younger brother Musheer was ruled out due to a road accident, Sarfaraz pledged to score a double century, and he delivered with a remarkable knock of 222* off 286 balls.

The past week was a roller coaster ride for the Khan family as Naushad Khan and his teenage son Musheer Khan met with a road accident in UP. Musheer, coming off a successful Duleep Trophy, injured his neck and was subsequently ruled out from the Irani Cup between Mumbai and Rest of India.

However, his elder brother Sarfaraz Khan ensured that Musheer is not forgotten by the unfortunate injury as he scored a double ton for Mumbai in the first inning of the Irani Cup game. Sarfaraz scored 222* off 286 deliveries including 25 fours and 4 sixes.

Sarfaraz Khan revealed later that he promised his family and team to score a double hundred and when he does, he will dedicate 100 runs to brother Musheer.

"Yes, it has been an emotional week for me. I had promised my family and teammates that if I am set, I will score 200 — a hundred for me and hundred for my brother (Musheer)," Sarfaraz told media.

However, the batter did mention that had Musheer been a part of the Mumbai team, his dad would have been prouder.

"If he (Musheer) had played in the match, abbu (father) would have been prouder. Unfortunately, he met with an accident. So, I thought I must somehow score a double ton in this match," he added.

Regardless, Sarfaraz was happy to score for the team as Mumbai finished with 537/10 gigantic total.
