Fans Label Gautam Gambhir As Hypocrite After He Promotes Betting App

India head coach Gautam Gambhir has landed in a controversy as he is facing a severe backlash for promoting a betting company on his Twitter account. 

Gambhir has made a name for himself for speaking his heart out. In the past, he has gone on to speak against several Indian legends for promoting pan masala companies and other things that can have a negative and bad impact on children and society.

However, in the latest events, Gambhir is on the other side of the conversation and is being trolled over his tweet. The fans are calling him a hypocrite. On Saturday, October 12, Gambhir took to Twitter, where he promoted Real 11. 

"Hopefully, India will continue their domination against Bangladesh in T20Is as well. Enjoy the three-match series with @Real11official. Share your opinion in a Yes/No and avail instant cash rewards."

The fans were upset by this tweet and even called him a hypocrite. They also pointed out the article when Gambhir had slammed Ganguly for promoting a betting company. 

Gambhir Slammed Ganguly for Promoting Betting Apps

In September 2022, Gambhir slammed then BCCI president Sourav Ganguly for promoting a betting company and remarked that it should be completely banned in India. 

“If the BCCI president (Ganguly) is doing it, you can’t expect other players not to do it. If he says that no one should be allowed to do it, I think everyone should follow that … It has to come from the top. Either we should ban this completely in India. It can’t be statewide. And no one should be allowed to endorse that,” said Gambhir at the Indian Express Idea Exchange.

Not just Ganguly, but Gambhir had also spoken against the likes of Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, and Virender Sehwag for promoting tobacco products.
