In a significant development coming out from the DC camp, Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav are likely to be three retentions for the franchise according to a report from PTI. Also, former Indian middle order batter, Heman Badani is a front runner to take over the head coach role, while former cricketers Y. Venugopal Rao and Munaf Patel are also likely to join the support staff.

Rishabh Pant is likely to be top retention for DC with a price of 18 Crore while Axar Patel is set to take the second position. Kuldeep Yadav will be the third pre-auction retention while Australian opener, Jake-Fraser McGurk and young South African star Tristan Stubbs are likely to be picked through RTM cards in auction.

Interestingly, DC looks all set to leave Prithvi Shaw who has been associated with the franchise since 2018. The opener has not lived upto his billing in the last few years and his release from the franchise is on the expected line.

Hemang Badani Likely To Take Over DC's Head Coach Role

As far as role of Head Coach is concerned in the franchise, Ricky Ponting left the franchise after the 2023 season after serving the franchise for six seasons. He took over the head coach role of Punjab Kings and DC management is now looking at former Indian cricketers to start afresh in the new IPL cycle. Hemang Badai who is the front runner to take the position previously worked with Brian Lara at Sunrisers Hyderabad and has played four Test and 40 ODIs for India.

"DC management is looking at quality home-grown coaches and Hemang and Munaf's names have cropped up. A final decision is yet to be taken but in case of Munaf, it could be bowling coach's job," an IPL source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

The last date to submit the retention list for all franchises is 31st of October and total six retentions are allowed with option of retaining all of them before auction or through RTM.
