Pakistan cricket team scripted unwanted history by becoming the first-ever team in 144 years of Test Cricket history to lose a game by an inning despite scoring over 500 runs in the first innings. With another shambolic loss, Shan Masood and Co. became a laughing stock online.

Just when you think Pakistan cricket cannot stoop any lower, they pull up a surprise. After a home Test series loss against Bangladesh, Shan Masood's troops piled up 556 runs in the first innings of the Multan Test against England, an ominous sign of a comeback.

Pakistan drop to new low with mortifying loss vs England

However, England's 823/7d response left Pakistan dumbfounded. Harry Brook and Joe Root stitched up a historic 454-run partnership for the 4th wicket, with Brook registering his career-first triple century and Root scaling a career-high 262-run mark.

Alas, Ollie Pope showed mercy and declared the innings with a 267-run lead on the final session of Day 4 only to witness a humiliating collapse. Pakistan crumbled under pressure and lost 5 wickets for just 59 runs. Though, Agha Salman and Aamer Jamal's 100-run stand extended the game to day 5. However, the resistance arrived too late as England bowled Pakistan out for 220 runs in the morning session of day 5 to claim an inning and 47-run victory in Multan.

With Pakistan's losing streak at home extending, fans on Twitter ridiculed the team for their dropping cricketing standards. While some poked fun at Pakistan's second-inning collapse, a few questioned Shan Masood's leadership intent. Needless to say, these are testing times for Pakistan cricket as they're losing their relevance with such questionable defeats, especially on home turf.

England went 1-0 in the three-game Test series, with the second game also scheduled at Multan from October 15-19.
