In a significant development, there are reports that the BCCI has added Singapore as another option to their list of potential venues for the IPL 2025 auction alongside Saudi Arabia.

According to a report from Cricbuzz, BCCI has shortlisted Singapore as an option to host the upcoming IPL 2025 auction set to be held in the last week of November or the first week of December. Earlier, there were reports that the BCCI had shortlisted Riyadh and Jeddah as the two potential venues for the upcoming event, but they were finding it difficult to get hotels.

Franchises Unaware Of BCCI's Decision On Venue For IPL 2025 Mega-Auction

While the BCCI is busy shortlisting venues for the upcoming auction, the franchises are unaware of their decision and speaking to Cricbuzz, they indicated they have no information about the venue but expressed a hope to be informed early so they can begin working on visa and travel arrangements for their representatives attending the auction.

It is worth noting that Dubai is also an option, as it hosted the IPL auctions in 2023. Before all these options, the Roger Binny-led board thought of London as the ideal city for the IPL 2025 auction but dropped the idea because of the cold conditions in the UK.

Franchises Complain Regarding RTM Rule

Recently, the BCCI announced the new policies for the IPL 2025 mega-auctions, where they increased the retentions to six from four. They also re-introduced the Right To Match (RTM) with new twists. However, it has been hit with controversy as the franchise owners are unhappy with the new rule and have reportedly filed a complaint against the rule.

Up until now, players go to the team that raises the RTM paddle during the auction, but the revised rule suggests that the other bidder can raise the amount despite the RTM being activated. Thus, the franchises have opposed it.
