England registered a handsome victory in the first Test against Pakistan when they beat the hosts by an innings and 47 runs to lead the three-match Test series 1-0. It was a run-fest at the Multan Stadium, and the two teams would lock horns against each other at the same venue on October 15 for the 2nd Test.

Ahead of the upcoming match, there are reports that Pakistan are looking to drop Babar Azam from the squad owing to his poor run with the bat in Test cricket. Thus, this article will shed light on the three players who can replace the former Pakistan batter.

1. Mohammad Huraira

According to reports, Mohammad Huraira, who is a part of the squad,  is set to make his Test debut. The 22-year-old opener has been in an impressive form in the domestic circuit, averaging 56.24 in first-class cricket with nine centuries to his name.

He recently scored a double-hundred for Pakistan Shaheens against Bangladesh A. He has also been consistent in the domestic circuit in the past few years. Huraira was the leading run-getter in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in 2021 and 2022 editions.

2. Sahibzada Farhan

Talking about another star who dominated the domestic season, the 28-year-old, Sahibzada Farhan, was the leading run-getter in 2023–24 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy where he scored 847 runs.

Farhan has featured for Pakistan in T20Is but is yet to make his Test debut. It is the right time for the selectors to shed light on the players who are performing well in the domestic circuit and give them the opportunities they deserve.

3. Imam-Ul-Haq

Talking about Imam, the Pakistani veteran has not played a solitary Test for Pakistant this year and was last seen in action against Australia in the 2023 away tour. There were also reports that Imam might make a return to the Test team.

There are reports that Haq's ouster from team did not stem out from his form with the bat, but he instead leaked a sensitive information that did not go well with the board. In his illustrious Test career, he has scored 1578 runs in 24 Test matches and averages 37.33, which includes three centuries.
