As Delhi Capitals (DC) prepare to take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 40th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium on Tuesday, all eyes will be on the possible return of veteran batter Faf du Plessis. 

It is important to mention that the former South African captain has been sidelined due to injury since April 10, missing the last three games for DC. Earlier, he also skipped the match against CSK because of a groin issue. One major point before the match is will Faf du Plessis play today?

During a pre-match press conference, DC pacer Vipraj Nigam provided an update on Du Plessis’ fitness. "He is recovering well but the final call will be taken by the management,” Nigam said at the pre-match press conference.

Despite the absence of Du Plessis, Delhi Capitals have continued their strong form, sitting second on the points table with five wins from seven matches. Their only two losses have come at the hands of Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans.

The team’s consistent performance without Faf du Plessis has added depth to their campaign, but management will be hoping to see the experienced batter return to the lineup soon, especially as the playoff race intensifies.
