Abhishek Sharma may be enjoying the peak of his career, but behind his rise lies a story of strict discipline and mentorship by all-rounder Yuvraj Singh. The 24-year-old, who recently earned his maiden Central Contract with the BCCI under Grade C, has openly credited Yuvraj for transforming his game and mindset. 

Now, Yuvraj’s father, Yograj Singh, has shed light on how his son instilled discipline into the young cricketer’s life.

Yograj Singh Shares How Yuvraj Helped Abhishek Sharma

Speaking in a recent interview News 18 Punjabi, Yograj Singh revealed that Abhishek's flamboyant lifestyle was a major concern early on. He also mentioned that Yuvraj Singh took a hands-on approach and issued curfews, banning parties, and ensuring early wake-up calls. 

"Late night parties... girlfriend. What happened then? Yuvraj said, 'Lock him. ' He came under Yuvraj Singh's wings as his father couldn't handle him. Yuvi shouted, 'Where are you?'. I heard him shout. 'It's 9 pm, go to bed. Do you understand me? I am coming.' He then handed over the phone and went to bed. Yuvi then told his father to wake him up at 5 am," Yograj revealed.



“When a diamond lands into the hands of another diamond, it turns into Kohinoor,” Yograj said. “That’s what happened with Abhishek. Had he landed in the wrong hands, he could have scattered like many others.”

Yograj also drew parallels with Indian opener Shubman Gill, who underwent a similar transformation under Yuvraj’s guidance.
