In a recent news, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed that the Pakistan will not travel to India for the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. Instead, the team will participate in the tournament under a hybrid model, playing all its matches at a neutral venue.

The decision aligns with a prior agreement reached between the PCB and BCCI, and the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Pakistan Women To Play World Cup At Neutral Venue

India, who hold the hosting rights for the marquee event, will organise the tournament from September 29 to October 26, 2025. As per Naqvi, the responsibility of selecting a neutral venue now lies with the BCCI.

"Just like India didn't play in Pakistan during the Champions Trophy and were allowed to compete at a neutral venue, we will do the same. When there is an agreement, it must be honoured," Naqvi said, as quoted by the PTI news agency.

What Was The Agreement Between India And Pakistan?

The move mirrors the arrangement made for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, where India opted not to play in Pakistan and the matches were shifted to Dubai.

The hybrid hosting model was introduced following prolonged diplomatic tensions between the two neighbouring nations. So to conduct any event smoothly, the ICC approved the use of this model for all major global events involving India and Pakistan till 2028.

"India and Pakistan matches hosted by either country at ICC Events during the 2024-2027 rights cycle will be played at a neutral venue,"

Women’s World Cup 2025 Teams

Pakistan qualified for the Women’s World Cup after an unbeaten run at the qualifying event held in Lahore, securing wins over Ireland, Scotland, West Indies, Thailand, and Bangladesh. Bangladesh also made it through the qualifiers.

The 2025 Women’s World Cup will feature eight teams: hosts India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
