The rivalry between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) may be fierce on the field, but off it, there is still room for some light-hearted fun. On the eve of the highly anticipated IPL 2025 clash between the two most successful franchises, a video of MS Dhoni chasing Deepak Chahar with a bat during CSK’s net session at the Wankhede Stadium has gone viral on social media.

In a funny moment Dhoni was seen running toward Chahar, his former CSK, with a bat in hand in a playful gesture. The incident unfolded during CSK's final training session before the high-stakes encounter against MI on Sunday, April 20.

It is important to mention that MS Dhoni has returned as CSK captain after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out for the season due to elbow fracture. 

During the nets, Chahar appeared to have teased Dhoni in jest, prompting the legend to humorously retaliate. It was not the first time that Dhoni had playfully hit Chahar with a bat the similar incidence was seen earlier  after CSK vs MI match. Watch the funny moment here: 

Talking about Deepak Chahar, the pacer represented CSK from 2018 to 2024, now plays for Mumbai Indians after being picked up for Rs 9.25 crore in the last mega auction. 

Having played 43 IPL matches against MI, Dhoni brings both experience and firepower, with 768 runs and three fifties to his name in this fierce rivalry. With the leadership reins back in his hands, all eyes will be on ‘Thala’ as he looks to inspire CSK's strong comeback.
