In a significant development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has put an advertisement seeking a new head coach amid the team's horrendous recent performance in international cricket. As reported by The Express Tribune, the PCB released a vacancy for the head coach's role, although Aaqib Javed has yet to be relieved from his duties.
Aaqib Javed Interested In Different Role: Reports
The report states that the PCB has invited applications from Level III qualified coaches with a minimum of 10 years of coaching experience at the national or domestic level.
The apex body seeks a qualified person with excellent administrative and management skills as it plans to hire a permanent head coach for the men's side.
It also claims that Pakistan's existing head coach Aaqib Javed is interested in serving the national side as the Director of the high-performance centre although the PCB has issued another advertisement for the same.
After a string of disastrous outings, the PCB had a fall-out with Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie, eventually sacking the famed duo and bringing Aaqib Javed as the interim head coach across formats.
However, the former fast bowler couldn't taste much success, with the men's side crashing out of the Champions Trophy group stage following demoralising defeats from New Zealand and arch-rivals India.
Although the board extended his stint to cover the New Zealand tour, the head coach failed to bring the best out of his troops, with Pakistan losing seven out of the eight white-ball matches.
