Yashasvi Jaiswal's childhood coach has emphasised mental toughness as the key to the batter's success in India's upcoming Test series against Australia. India will tour Down Under for a much-awaited five-match series against the home side.

This will be Jaiswal's first Australian tour, as the southpaw is expected to play a key role at the top order for the visitors. Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal's childhood coach Jwala Singh reckons how the southpaw handles pressure will determine his performance on Australian soil.

Speaking to the Press Trust of India, Jwala stated that apart from his stoic technique and aggressive stroke-play, Jaiswal's maturity as a batter would be crucial for him in the Australia series.

"At this level, it is more about how you handle pressure. You can always work on technique, but if you don't have the right attitude and mindset then you will end up as a failure. It is even more true when you go and play in Australia because they play some hard cricket there and put a lot of pressure on opposition," Jwala Singh said.

Jaiswal's Childhood Coach Praises His Game Awareness

Having said that, Jwala Singh praised his disciple for improved game awareness. He reckoned Jaiswal has worked on his temperament, adapting to match situations and choosing appropriate deliveries to up the ante. Therefore, as he put it, Jaiswal would have a successful Australian tour, emerging as India's go-to man with the bat in the much-awaited series.

"But fortunately, Yashasvi has a mature head on his shoulder. Yashasvi now has more awareness of his game. He has better awareness about which ball to attack and which one to let go. Of course, he has also become a very good fielder now, especially in slip region," Jwala Singh added.
