India will face Bangladesh for the 2nd T20I on October 9 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Ahead of the important match, Suryakumar Yadav spoke to the press, where he opened up on his relationship with Gautam Gambhir.

It is not the first time that SKY has worked with Gambhir, but when he started his IPL career with Kolkata Knight Riders, Gautam was the captain and played a key role in nurturing SKY's talent.

SKY Talks About His Bond With Gautam Gambhir

In the latest events, SKY heaped massive praise on Gambhir and remarked that the Indian head coach even understands his emotions through his body language.

“Coach Gambhir and I share a special bond. He has always backed my abilities, and I can never forget that. Even when I don’t express something to him, he somehow manages to understand me just by my body language or by looking into my eyes, which is really special,” said SKY speaking with JioCinema.

It is worth noting that Gambhir also wanted Suryakumar Yadav to lead India till the 2026 T20 World Cup which is why SKY piped Hardik Pandya, who was the favourite to succeed Rohit Sharma under Rahul Dravid's tenure, to become India captain.

SKY Heaps Praise On Rohit Sharma

Meanwhile, Surya also talked highly about Rohit and stated that he has learnt a lot about captaincy from the hitman, who bid adieu to the shortest format after T20 World Cup 2024 Triumph.

“Watching Rohit Sharma bat in the Kanpur Test felt like the T20 series had already started. It was a perfect Rohit Sharma-style approach. Very few teams can force a result after losing over two days of play, but winning the Kanpur Test was a testament to great captaincy and leadership. I’ve learned a lot about captaincy from Rohit, and I hope to apply those lessons in my leadership,” said Suryakumar Yadav.

It is worth noting that SKY has captained India in 11 matches and enjoys a great track record. Surya has won eight matches, lost two and tied one.
