India will face Bangladesh for the 2nd T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on October 9. It is a crucial game for both teams as Bangladesh would look to level the series while the Suryakumar Yadav-led would eye to seal the series with a win. Notably, India won the first T20I in a handsome manner by handing a seven-wickets defeat to The Tigers.

Talking about Suryakumar Yadav, the 34-year-old also eyes a personal milestone as he is on the verge of equalling Virat Kohli's feat of fastest Indians to 2500 T20I runs. SKY, who has played 72 matches for India in T20Is, has 2461 runs. He just requires 39 runs in the 2nd T20I to level Virat's feat, who also took 73 matches to reach this feat. It is worth noting that Virat is also India's fastest player to 3500 T20I runs.

Suryakumar Yadav On The Cusp Of Scripting History

SKY had the opportunity to become the fastest Indian to 2500 T20I runs in the first T20I, but he got out after scoring 29 (14). Overall, SKY has the chance to become the joint second-fastest to 2500 T20I runs.

Babar Azam is the fastest to reach this milestone as the former Pakistan skipper took just 67 matches to reach the milestone. Here is the complete list.

  • Babar Azam (Pakistan) – 67
  • Virat Kohli (India) – 73
  • Mohammad Rizwan (Pakistan) – 76
  • Aaron Finch (Australia) – 78
  • Martin Guptill (New Zealand) – 86

It is worth noting that Suryakumar Yadav also held the record for being the joint-fastest Indian alongside Virat Kohli to 2000 T20I runs when he took just 56 matches. His impressive feat with the bat in the shortest format of the game was the primary reason behind Gautam Gambhir opting for SKY to become India's new T20I captain ahead of Hardik Pandya.
