India Women and Sri Lanka Women are all set to go head-to-head against each other in a crucial Group A fixture of Women's T20 World Cup at the Dubai International Stadium. It is a big game for both the sides to keep their hopes of qualifying for the semis alive and more so for Sri Lanka who have already lost two games. India, on the other hand, have won one and lost one match and would be itching to continue the momentum they gained by beating Sri Lanka.

Harmanpreet Kaur suffered an injury in the last match against Sri Lanka and is in doubt for this game. India are still favourite to win the game with their quality on paper, but Sri Lanka have fond memories of their last encounter against India where they beat Women in Blue and clinched Women's Asia Cup 2024.

Kavisha Dilhari's All-Round Show Upset India In Women's Asia Cup Final

The final was played in July 2024 and India were expected to dominate the home team Sri Lanka as they have done over the years. India batted first and Smriti Mandhana scored 60 off 47 balls and kept India going after they lost three wickets for 87 runs. Sri Lankan bowlers displayed good discipline, and at one point in time, India batters were struggling to take the score past 150. However, Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh played handy cameos of 29 and 30 and took India's score to 165. Kavisha Dilhari picked two wickets while three other bowlers picked one wicket each.

The total looked difficult for Sri Lanka at the halfway mark, but the home team's skipper Chamari Athapaththu played a brilliant knock of 61 off 43 balls to set a platform for her side. Harshitha Samarawickrama at number 3 continued her captain's good work and scored unbeaten 69. Kavisha Dilhari, at the other end played a brilliant cameo of 30 off 16 balls and Sri Lanka crossed the line with eight balls to spare.

So, Sri Lanka have shown potential to beat India on the big stage in the past and this one promises to be another cracking encounter between two sides.
