Australia's star seamer Mitchell Starc is all geared up for the upcoming five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting on November 22, 2024. Ahead of the crucial series from WTC's point of view, Starc talked about his contest with Virat Kohli and remarked that he is looking forward to square off against the former India skipper.

Starc heaped massive praise on Virat and remarked that the two have enjoyed a great battle. The left-arm seamer stated that he has got Virat out on a couple of occasions and admitted to being hit for a fair amount of runs.

Starc Talks About His Battle With Virat Kohli

"I enjoy my battles with Virat Kohli, it's because we've played a lot of cricket against one another. I always have some good battles. I've managed to get him out once or twice, and he's no doubt scored a fair few runs against me, so it's always a good contest and one we both enjoy," Starc told Star Sports.

Even during IPL 2024, Virat had an upper hand over Starc as he smashed the Australian for a couple of sixes. Talking about IPL, Starc was part of the IPL-winning squad that was mentored by Gautam Gambhir. Meanwhile, the left-arm seamer also heaped massive praise on Gambhir and hailed him as a thinker.

Starc Hails Gautam Gambhir

“Speaking from my experience at Kolkata, he is a fantastic thinker of the game. He’s always thinking about the opponent and how to get them out as a bowling attack or how to score runs as a batting attack,” Starc said on ‘Star Sports’.

“It’s not just individual players it’s always about the team focus and how to get on top of little things that he might see in techniques or in a field placement or anything like that,” he added.

It is worth noting that India and Australia are battling it out to qualify for the finals of the WTC 2023-25 cycle as they are placed 1st and 2nd respectively.
