The inevitable happened as the out of form Glenn Maxwell was dropped from the playing XI by Shreyas Iyer for the clash against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. PBKS had a lot of hope when they bought the former RCB player in their team, but those hopes were soon dashed away.

The decision did came as a bit of a surprise but Shreyas Iyer replaced him with Marcus Stonis, who missed the last IPL match due to an injury.

Why did Shreyas Iyer drop Maxwell?

Glenn Maxwell was bought with a lot of promise, but the all-rounder hasn't managed to fulfil those as the Australian player only has 41 runs in 6 matches, at an average of 8.20, with a strike-rate of 100.

He was given chances in every game to perform, but the all-rounder had disappointing outings as Iyer had to make a harsh call. With the ball he was decent, however, his main role is batting and this is where Maxwell failed.

His replacement, Marcus Stoinis looked in fine touch before his injury and will fill in the role of an all-rounder.

RCB Vs PBKS Match down to 14 overs

Relentless rain spoiled the fun for the fans and as a result, the toss was delayed. The rain stopped almost 1.5 hours after the toss time and the match had revised schedule with 14 overs per side to be bowled.

RCB, had a horror start as they lost Phil Salt in the first over itself with Arshdeep Singh doing the magic.
