After St. Lucia Kings' triumph in the CPL 2024 final, captain Faf du Plessis celebrated in a manner that caught the attention of cricket fans worldwide. He recreated India captain Rohit Sharma's iconic slow-motion walk from the 2024 T20 World Cup trophy celebrations.

Saint Lucia Kings faced Guyana Amazon Warriors in the finals of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 edition finals at the Providence Stadium on October 6. Batting first, the Warriors succumbed to just 138 runs before the Kings cashed down the total in 18.1 overs. Aaron Jones hammered 48 off 31 balls to steer Saint Lucia Kings to a 6-wicket victory.

Faf du Plessis' slow motion walks refreshes T20 World Cup memories

With that, Saint Lucia Kings were crowned as CPL 2024 champions. As captain Faf du Plessis was handed over the prized trophy, he took a leaf out of India captain Rohit Sharma's book of celebrations to recreate an iconic moment.

Faf imitated Rohit's slow-motion walk to the celebration podium with the trophy as his team patiently waited for him to kick off the celebration. Notably, the slow-motion walk originated with WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair before Rohit Sharma made it popular on the 2024 T20 World Cup winning podium.

That being said, Rohit's celebratory moment during the World Cup became a symbol of pride for Indian cricket fans, and du Plessis' playful imitation was a nod to that iconic image. The Indian fans surely had a flashback of beautiful memories as du Plessis enjoyed his CPL title victory.

Noor Ahmad stars in St. Lucia Kings CPL title win

In the CPL 2024 final at Providence Stadium, St. Lucia Kings emerged victorious against the Guyana Amazon Warriors. The turning point came when Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad dismantled the Warriors' middle order.

He first broke the critical partnership by dismissing Moeen Ali and then followed it up with the wicket of Shimron Hetmyer, Guyana's top-scorer in the tournament. His 3/19 spell was critical in the Kings' inspiring victory.
