In a rain-curtailed 14-over contest at Chinnaswamy on Friday, April 18, Royal Challengers Bengaluru delivered yet another disappointing batting performance in IPL 2025. Facing Punjab Kings in the 34th match of the season, RCB could only muster 95 for 9, leaving fans disheartened yet again.

After a lengthy rain delay, which reduced the fixture from a full 20-over game to a 14-over-per-side shootout, Punjab Kings captain opted to bowl first, a decision that quickly paid dividends. RCB’s innings got off to a shaky start and never recovered as wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals.

RCB Disappoints Fans With Dismal Outing Against PBKS

Philip Salt fell early in the opening over, and Virat Kohli followed soon after, managing just 1 off 3 balls. Stand-in skipper Rajat Patidar was the only top-order batter to show some resistance, scoring 23 off 18 balls. But the rest of the batting line-up crumbled under pressure.

RCB were reduced to 42/7 inside nine overs, with Punjab’s bowling attack firing on all cylinders. Marco Jansen and Yuzvendra Chahal were the pick of the bowlers, claiming two wickets apiece and conceding just 10 and 11 runs respectively in their three-over spells.

Arshdeep Singh, Harpreet Brar, and Xavier Bartlett chipped in with wickets at crucial moments. It was Tim David’s blistering 50 off 26 balls, laced with 5 fours and 3 sixes, that gave RCB some respectability. Without his counterattack, the scorecard would have looked even more grim. The innings ended at 95 for 9 in 14 overs, leaving Punjab Kings with a modest target to chase.

Social Media Trolls RCB Mercilessly

As expected, netizens didn’t hold back. RCB’s batting flop show sparked a flood of memes and sarcastic posts on X (formerly Twitter). Fans expressed their frustration over the team’s top-order failures calling back their infamous '49' all out against KKR. After the dismal batting performance, RCB is once again at the receiving end of online trolling.
