Tanush Kotian Makes A Strong Case For India Selection With A Brilliant Hundred In Irani Cup 2024

In the ongoing Irani Cup 2024 match between Mumbai and the Rest of India, Ranji Trophy's defending champions are cruising towards a win as they have dominated the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side. 

Mumbai had a 121-run read after the end of the first innings of both teams. Batting again, Mumbai are 297/8 after 72 overs, courtesy of Tanush Kotian, who smashed a brilliant century.

Tanush Kotian's Century Saves Mumbai From Collapse

Kotian came to bat when Mumbai were on the brink of a collapse and reduced to 125/6. However, Kotian turned the course of the match as he displayed maturity and brought up a century in 135 deliveries which featured ten fours and a solitary six. 

It was Kotian's 2nd century in first-class cricket as the 25-year-old has made a strong case for himself to represent India in the future and emerge as one of the most successful all-rounders of the game.

Kotian has been excellent for Mumbai and arguably their best performer in the past year. Talking about the 25-year-old he was the player of the series in Mumbai's title-winning Ranji Trophy season as he scored 500+ runs and took 29 wickets. 

Tanush Kotian Shines In Domestic Cricket

He also scripted history as he became the first player in Irani Cup history to score a a fifty and hundred in an Irani Cup match while batting at number 8 or lower. It is worth noting that Kotian scored a fifty in the first innings. Further, he also shone with the ball and took three wickets, the most for his side in that innings. 

Shedding light on the year Kotian is having, he scored 121 runs in the Duleep Trophy and took ten wickets. He also scored a century in February in the Ranji Trophy 2024. The fans are vouching for the all-rounder to be picked in the Indian team and become a possible replacement for R Ashwin or Ravindra Jadeja in the future.
