In the ongoing match between India and New Zealand at the Dubai International Stadium, The White Ferns, batting first, have got off to a solid start against the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side.

Openers Suzie Bates and Georgia Plimmer got off to a flyer as they stitched a 67-run stand for the first wicket. Arundhati Reddy drew the first blood for the Women in Blue as she got rid of the dangerous Suzie Bates.

Smriti Mandhana And Asha Shobhana Combine For A Wicket

One followed by two as Plimmer too soon joined Bates in the dressing room and fell prey to Asha Shobana. Further, Smriti Mandhana took a running catch and made it look effortless. Further, Shobhana celebrated in a unique style and brought out a signature move.

India's Terrible Day At The Field

While New Zealand lost two quick wickets, it was a terrible night on the field for India as Renuka Singh let the team down by sloppy fielding. Then, Richa Ghosh is also having a night to forget as she dropped a dolly. Arguably the easiest catch of the tournament so far.

At the time of writing this article, New Zealand are going strong as they have put 121/3 on the board after 16.4 overs. A major controversy too occurred on the field after Amelia Kerr was run-out by Harmanpreet Kaur but the play was deemed dead by the umpire. The Indian players were furious with the decision as they felt that they were robbed of a wicket and the play was still on.

After a long halt, the umpires were firm on their decision and eventually, New Zealand were given just a single run, but Kerr stayed on the crease.
