In a low-scoring thriller, Punjab Kings beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 5 wickets. With the game being reduced to 14 overs per side due to rain, RCB collapsed in the first inning to 95/9. In the chase, though PBKS lost a couple of wickets to Josh Hazlewood, Nehal Wadhera kept his calm and guided his team across the finish line.

Here’s how RCB vs PBKS panned out in Bengaluru:

RCB’s Humiliating Collapse In Rain-Hit Game Stuns Home Fans

The start of the match was delayed due to an annoying drizzle at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, once the rain stopped, the super soppers dried out the outfield quickly as the match resumed at 9.45 pm with 14-over per side.

However, RCB batters collapsed in what turned out to be a humiliating show in front of home fans. After Phil Salt was dismissed on 4 runs in the first over, the middle order crashed to 33/5. Out of the 10 batters that came out to bat, 8 were dismissed on single-digit scores. At 11.5 overs, RCB had just 63 runs on the board at the loss of 9 wickets.

Tim David’s Blitz Saved RCB From Utter Embarrassment

Meanwhile, RCB were rescued by an inspiring knock from Tim David. The man came out to bat with courage, hitting a blazing 50 off just 26 balls. He slammed 3 big sixes off the final over from Harpreet Brar and surged Bengaluru’s total to 95/9. For PBKS, Marco Jansen (2/10) and Yuzvendra Chahal (2/11) bowled the most economical spells in 3 overs each allotted to them.

Punjab Openers Fail To Score Big

With an achievable target on board, Prasbhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya opened the second inning for PBKS. Both batters had a good start, scoring a 22-run partnership. However, Singh missed a slog against Bhuvneshwar Kumar, holing out to Tim David. Priyansh followed him in the 4th over as PBKS were 2 wickets down with 33 runs on the board.

Nehal Wadhera Survives Pressure To Take PBKS Home

Josh Hazlewood kept the game alive for RCB by picking up 2 big wickets of Josh Inglis (14) and Shreyas Iyer (7) in a single over. However, Nehal Wadhera released the pressure by hitting Suyash Sharma for a six and a four in the 9th over as the equation came down to 33 needed off 30 balls. Wadhera crushed RCB’s tiny hopes with a match-winning 33* off 19 balls. Marcus Stoinis’ final six sealed the deal as PBKS won the game by 5 wickets.
