New Zealand fast bowlers induced a late Indian batting collapse on Day 4 of the series-opening first Test match in Bengaluru on October 19.

Here’s the timeline of how IND vs NZ panned out in Bengaluru:

IND vs NZ Highlights: Rishabh Pant, Sarfaraz Mount 177-Run Partnership

Resuming the Indian innings at 231-3 on Day 4, overnight batter Sarfraz Khan and newcomer Rishabh Pant shared 177 quick runs together for the fourth wicket. Their colossal middle-order defiant took India past the 400-run mark, and also ensured their team avoided an innings defeat.

Khan brought up his maiden Test century as he went on to chart a career-best 150 from just 195 balls. The dashing right-hander smeared 18 boundaries and three sixes in his knock, while Pant pounded nine boundaries and five sixes in his attacking 99-run counterpunch from just 105 balls.

IND vs NZ Highlights: Matt Henry, O’Rourke Induce Late Indian Collapse

With Team India taking command at 408-3 in just 84 overs, New Zealand fast bowlers Matt Henry, William O’Rourke as well as senior man Tim Southee tilted the tide back in the favor of the visitors with a slew of quick wickets.

Southee delivered the first breakthrough of the day for New Zealand by getting rid of centurion Sarfaraz Khan. William O’Rourke picked up the next three wickets in the space of an hour, including that of Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja to claim sizzling figures of 3-92.

Matt Henry polished off the tail with a three-wicket burst of his own (3-102) to envelope Team India for 462 in 99.3 overs. The late Indian collapse ensured that the hosts lost their final seven wickets for just 54 runs on the board.

IND vs NZ Highlights: Rains Stop Play In NZ Run-Chase

New Zealand openers Tom Latham and Devon Conway arrived to the crease late in the day to chase down 107 runs for a 1-0 lead in the series.

However, officials called for an early stumps after rains returned in just the opening over of the run-chase.
