Dhoni Equals Kohli's Elite Tally With Vintage Finish Vs LSG; Joins Rare IPL List Of Legends

MS Dhoni is now 43-year-old, and is one of the few players in the IPL 2025 edition who have been part of the league since the inaugural edition. He has delivered plenty of match-winning moments over the years, and arguably is the best finisher in the history of the league.

Dhoni Finishes Off In Style Against LSG

CSK have won five titles under his leadership, and now after taking over the captaincy from Ruturaj Gaikwad midway during the season, the man from Ranchi has delivered his vintage finish. He smashed unbeaten 26 off 11 balls in a tense run-chase and was given the player of the match award after the win. 

It is his 18th Player of the match award in IPL, and with it, he has equalled Virat Kohli and David Warner who also have 18 POTM awards to their name. Just above these three legends is Rohit Sharma with 19 awards. Chris Gayle, on the other hand, has 22 Player of the match award while the South African and RCB legend, AB de Villiers is at the top with 25 awards.

From this list, only the Indian trio is playing IPL 2025 while AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle have retired. David Warner went unsold in IPL 2025 auction, but they have all been legends and their awards speak volumes of their contributions for their respective franchises.

Talking about Dhoni, his classic finish against LSG along with Shivam Dube helped CSK break their losing run, and now they have two wins from seven matches in IPL 2025.
