Pakistan's experienced batter Babar Azam had a forgettable outing with the bat, as he was dismissed cheaply in the first Test against England in Multan. Coming at number four, Babar scored only 30 runs before veteran English pacer Chris Woakes dismissed him with a sharp nip-backer.

Considering the batting-friendly nature of the Multan pitch, Babar was expected to regain his mojo in this Test match. However, while Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood struck scintillating centuries, Babar failed to capitalise on the favourable home conditions, being dismissed towards the fag end of the day's play.

Babar Azam's rough patch in Tests has become a hot topic for discussion among cricket enthusiasts worldwide. As soon as the stylish batter departed, memes started to galore on social media, with fans trolling him for his poor outing.

The users of social media platform X (formerly Twitter) took jibes at Babar for failing to score on Multan's lifeless surface.

Babar Azam's Torrid Run In Tests

Despite being a gifted batter, Babar Azam has had a prolonged torrid run in Test cricket. Since 2023, the right-handed batter has managed only 317 runs in 15 innings at a horrendous average of 21.33. More importantly, he hasn't breached the 50-run mark since 2023, throwing away his starts multiple times. His inconsistency has certainly played a significant role in Pakistan's underwhelming performance on home soil.

Pakistan In The Driving Seat In 1st Test Vs England

Despite Babar Azam's dismissal, Pakistan finished the opening day of the Multan Test on a high note. Riding on sparkling centuries from Abdullah Shafique and skipper Shan Masood, the hosts piled up 328 runs, losing only four wickets before stumps on day 1.
