Pakistan Shaheens, under the fiery leadership of wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris, have unveiled a formidable squad for the upcoming ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup, scheduled to kick off in Oman on October 18. Haris, with nine T20Is and six ODIs under his belt for Pakistan, will aim to steer the Shaheens to back-to-back titles in a tournament brimming with rising stars and seasoned campaigners alike.

The 15-member squad boasts a mix of familiar faces and fresh blood, adding depth and versatility to the line-up. Notable inclusions in the team include speedsters Shahnawaz Dahani and Zaman Khan, alongside the hard-hitting Haider Ali.

Meanwhile, youngsters Ahmed Daniyal, Zaman, and Abdul Samad will be donning the Shaheens jersey for the first time, hoping to make a splash in Oman.

Zaman, with his fiery pace and an impressive domestic stint with the Stallions, promises to be a key weapon in the Shaheens' arsenal. Samad and Daniyal have also shown their mettle in the domestic circuit, each showcasing impressive performances that earned them a spot in this prestigious squad.

All three debutants are primed to make a lasting impression in their maiden international outings for Pakistan Shaheens.

Preparatory Camp and Take-off to Oman

In a bid to enter the tournament in top gear, Pakistan A will embark on a five-day training camp from October 11 to 15, prior to their departure for Oman on October 16. This preparatory camp will see the squad honing their skills and strategy to face Group B rivals, including hosts Oman and UAE, before embarking on their title defence.

The stakes are high for Pakistan Shaheens, who captured the 2023 crown with a victory over India A, thanks to a scintillating 108 off 71 balls by Tayyab Tahir in the final. This year, they will be keen to show the world that their title win was no flash in the pan, with Haris and his men expected to leave no stone unturned in their quest for glory.

Pakistan's Group and Fixtures

Grouped alongside India A, Oman and UAE in Group B, Pakistan A will be aiming for a semi-final spot as they aim to repeat last year’s success. Group A will see Afghanistan A, Bangladesh A, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka A battle it out for a place in the knockouts.

The tournament’s curtain-raiser will witness Bangladesh A locking horns with Hong Kong on October 18. India will lock horns with Pakistan on Saturday, October 19. The final showdown is set for October 27, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the semi-finals.
